Thanks very much for digging up those posts for me.
(You're like the 4th Singaporean I know who plays GW.)

Your welcome Gale and welcome to these forums. I know of quite a few Singaporeans/guilds and we have some in our guild as well. Perhaps you like the check out the official GW site for Singapore as well though it is very much quiet there.

Good luck and have fun RPing here, hope you find what you looking for.

While it would be interesting, I'm happy in my current guild.. not entirly sure how they'd react if I started role playing though... hmm... tempting..

Kang moryman: hearken to my words and hear from me a tale that will quench thy ears which thirst for a story worthy of the bards.
Guildie:....Kangs drunk again
Kang Moryman: im just in character man.....
*Kang Moryman kicked from guild*
I know in guild wars npcs or characters dont speak like that, but it was just an example.

Hmmm, I'm not really into roleplaying in Guildwars. Other games are ok, but I don't really like RP in GW.
Wasn't there a massive roleplaying guild some time ago on the docks of LA?

Yeah I haven't tried NwN2 either because, quite literally, my new graphic's card was stolen off of my front porch where the idiots at UPS decided to leave it despite me living across the street from a shopping area... Story on that still ongoing, and neither here nor there for this topic...
But, anyway...
No computer game can really offer immersion. It's just not the right format. The best attempts were the text-only MUDs of the late 80s early 90s, and even they were highly flawed for the purpose.
You could try an IC-only Guild, but GW's would work against you on it at so many turns. Other than finishing the game and PvP, there isn't much to do. GW's almost completely lacks an interactive world.

ya im all about totally being in character when i play.. its so bad that i make people call me my name in vent.. Its great when someone askes me what im gonna go do..
(Somone): hey kooter what are you gonna go do today?
(me): Im going to ensure the survival of the human race by doing what i always do!
(someone): And what is that?
(me): Farm
(someone): Farm what?
(me):..............................
as for picking up item drops:
Farmer of kooter picks up phenisis voice
Farmer of Kooter drops phenisis voice
Yes folks this is really a green in nightfall dropped by a boss called phenis the loudmouth...
So with this much depth and realism in the game.. my guildmates and i ensure all players are in character at all times.
naww but seriously.. we dont.. it has always seemed real creepy to me when people do the "ingame world" thing..
we just hang out and talk on vent about everyones day and junk.. like work, party, school, etc

I play Guild Wars 23 hours a day, so i rarely have time for the outside world.
That other 1 hour isn't spent sleeping, oh no, it's spent posting on Guru
Sleep is for the weak, and Guild wars is for the win.

I think this is an excellent idea. I mean, what could be better. Let's see, what would the conversations be like?
"Oops, sorry guys, didn't mean to harm that baddy and make him run away like that. Guess I should've just let him molest us. Let's see if we can catch him before he's a Grandmaster Cartographer!"
Yeah, that's entertainment.

I would join a roleplay guild in GW if I could find one.
For me, the key is to at least make an attempt to act like someone who has experienced what your character has experienced. Accents and huge storylines are not necessary, but as the majority of the world of Tyria is fairly wartorn, characters should not be acting like imbeciles, either.

I see roleplaying guilds out there from time to time. I think it's a neat idea, though I've never really roleplayed myself, and certainly wouldn't want to be in a guild where it was mandatory fulltime. Each to their own, though.

Why can't roleplayers roleplay like cockneys or poor 1800's Londoners? I'm sure more people spoke like that than like Shakespeare..

My guild (small as it may be) is a Roleplay guild. We keep Guild Chat OOC, (since our characters aren't telepathic, and thus wouldn't be able to communicate too well between LA and Cavalon anyway, but also because as players we need a way to communicate re. OOC matters), but our Guild Hall is In Character, and we play IC whenever we meet up in game, also.
I'm an avid writer and RPer, so for me it's just another way to make the game that bit more involving and exciting, and to make our characters that bit more significant to ourselves.
So yeah, an RP guild is a good idea if you ask me, and there will always be (at least a few) other RPers to be found out there. But I think an exclusively RP guild might be a bit much - I don't know how mine would work if we didn't keep Guild Chat OOC for all those little things like asking people for help, item trade, and just general chat. Though being in character is fun, I think it's still nice to have some contact with the people behind those characters, too.

Well said.
Me, personally I think RPing is alright, I find it fun but alot of my friends don't, so I have to make due... Oh, and as other people have said, GW isn't ALL too great for RPing purposes, but it is still quite nice.
